Make 3 Leather Christmas Ornaments
The holiday season is approaching, and it’s the perfect time to create your own leather Christmas decorations! Simple, elegant, and durable, these handmade ornaments will bring a warm and authentic touch to your tree. It’s also a great DIY activity to do alone, with family, or with children.
In this tutorial, discover three easy-to-make ornaments: the Santa boot, the two-tone Christmas tree, and the stamped tree.

Required Materials

- Leather scraps
- Precision knife or cutter
- Hole punch
- Leather glue
- Glue applicator
- Pricking iron, needle and thread
- Silver pen
- File
- Ruler
- Leather lace
- Stamping tools V708 and A98
1. Santa Boot – 9 Steps

- Cut out the pattern
Print the boot pattern and cut it cleanly using a precision knife and ruler. - Trace the pattern
Place the pattern on your two pieces of leather and trace the contours with a silver pen. - Cut the leather
Cut both pieces using a cutter or sharp scissors. - Punch the hole
On the rectangular piece (the top of the boot), punch a hole to insert the cord. - Mark the alignment guides
Mark your assembly points to align both parts perfectly. - Sand and glue
Lightly file the bonding area for better adhesion, then apply glue. - Glue both pieces together
- Sew
Stitch the assembled pieces to strengthen and embellish the ornament. - Add the cord
Thread the cord through the hole and hang your boot on the tree.
2. Two-Tone Christmas Tree – 9 Steps

- Cut out the pattern
Print your tree pattern and carefully cut the inside and outside using a precision knife. - Trace the inside and outside onto the first piece of leather
This first leather (here, the black one) will be the front piece. - Cut the leather
Cut the shape using a precision knife and ruler. - Trace only the outer shape onto the second leather
This second leather corresponds to the metallic blue piece seen in the photo. - Cut the second piece
Cut it out using the cutter as well. - Punch the hole
To pass the cord and hang the ornament. - Mark the inner zone on the second leather
This helps you apply the glue neatly. - Apply glue and assemble
Carefully glue the two pieces together. - Trim the excess and add the cord
If the bottom leather overhangs, trim the excess for a clean finish, then add the cord.
3. Stamped Christmas Tree – 6 Steps

- Trace the outer contour
Use the same pattern as the two-tone tree and trace its outline onto the leather. - Cut the leather
Cut the shape using a precision knife and ruler. - Punch the hole
Punch the hole for the hanging cord. - Lightly moisten the leather
Use a damp sponge to prepare the leather for stamping. - Stamp the leather to create a garland effect
We used stamping tools V708 and A98 to achieve this pattern. - Add the cord
Insert the cord and hang your stamped leather tree.
